Earth Day
As part of the Foundation topic Elements we looked at mining for minerals and filtering water. We made a filter using and old bottle, cotton wool, gravel, sand and tissue. We mixed up some muddy water and poured it in to the bottle. As the water went through each type of earth it became cleaner.
Later we had a competition to see who could 'mine' the most minerals. We had bird seed and the minerals were beads and seeds. We looked for gold, diamonds, silver, rubies, emeralds and coal. The team who found the most won a prize. Rabbit team were the winners.
